Setting up an email alias

 

An alias is an internal forward that will send your email to another user at your domain.  You can use this as a way of consolidating the number of mail accounts you have.  You can even use it to add a common misspelling to your mail account to prevent missed mail.  To setup an alias, please perform the following steps:

 

Adding a Single-User Alias

1. Login to the Dashboard at http://panel.ihostnetworks.com
2. Press the Open Mail Control Panel icon under Services (bottom-right icon)

3. Press Mailboxes to the left
4. Press the Edit button next to the user you want to edit, as shown below:


5. Press the Mailboxes tab at the top
6. Press the Add Alias button, as shown below:


7. Under SMTP Address, enter your alias
8. Press Add
9. Press Update

 

Adding a Group Alias

1. Login to the Dashboard at http://panel.ihostnetworks.com
2. Press the Open Mail Control Panel icon under Services (bottom-right icon)

3. Press Mailboxes to the left
4. Press the Edit button next to the user you want to edit, as shown below:

5. Click the Groups link to the left
6. Press the Add New button
7. Enter a name for the Alias, press Add
8. Press the Edit button next to the Alias you just created
9. Press the Add Member button
10. Under SMTP Address, enter your first email address, press Add
11. Press the Add Member button to continue to add users to the Alias
