Setting up Microsoft Outlook

If you would like to send and receive email using Microsoft Outlook, you will need to configure your mail settings.  Depending on the version of Outlook you are using, the menu layout may be slightly different.  Please select the version of Outlook you are using from the list below.  If you do not know the version of Outlook you are using, you can go to Help > About while in the program.

Outlook 2010
Outlook 2002 / 2003
Outlook 2000


Outlook 2010

1. Open Outlook 2010
2. Go to File > Info > Add Account



3. Select "Manually configure server settings or additional server types", press Next
4. Select "Internet Email", press Next
5. Enter the following information:

Your Name: The name that will show up on your email
Email Address:
Your email address
Account Type: IMAP
Incoming Mail Server: (click here to determine your mail server address)
Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): (click here to determine your mail server address)
User Name: Your email address
Password:
Your email password



6. Press More Settings
7. Press the Outgoing Server tab
8. Checkmark "My outgoin server (SMTP) requires authentication"
9. Press the Advanced tab
10. Enter the following settings:

Incoming Server (IMAP): 993
This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL): Enabled
Ougoing Server (SMTP): 465
Use the following type of encrypted connection: SSL

11. Press OK
12. Press Text Account Settings to verfy the connection
13. Press Next
14. Press Finish


Outlook 2002 / 2003

1. Open Outlook 2003
2. From the menu bar, select Tools -> E-mail Accounts...
3. Select Add a new e-mail account, press Next
4. Select IMAP (recommended), press Next
5. Enter the following information in the window below:

Your Name: The name that will show up on your email
Email Address: Your email address
User Name: Your email address
Password: Your email password
Incoming Mail Server (IMAP): (click here to determine your mail server address)
Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): (click here to determine your mail server address)

6. Press the More Settings... button
7. Select the Outgoing Servers tab
8. Check mark My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication

9. Press the Advanced tab
10. Enter the following settings:

Incoming Server (IMAP): 993
This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL): Enabled
Ougoing Server (SMTP): 465
Use the following type of encrypted connection: SSL

11. Press OK
12. Verify the settings are correct by pressing the Test Account Settings button
13. Press Next
14. Press Finish


Outlook 2000

1. Open Outlook 2000
2. From the menu bar, select Tools -> Accounts...
3. Select the Mail tab
4. Press the Add button, then select Mail
5.
Enter your name, press Next
6. Enter your email address, press Next
7. Select IMAP, then enter your Incoming (IMAP) and Outgoing (SMTP) mail server settings:

(Click here to determine your mail server address)

8. Press Next
9. Under Account Name, enter your email address, and then enter your email password in the following field

 

10. Press Next
11. Select how you connect to the internet, press Next

Note: Broadband users should select Connect using my local area network (LAN)

12. Press Finish
13. Select your mail account, and press the Properties button
14. Press the Servers tab
15. Under Outgoing Mail Server, make sure My server requires authentication is check marked, as shown below:

16. Press the Advanced tab
17. Enter the following settings:

Incoming Server (IMAP): 993
This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL): Enabled
Ougoing Server (SMTP): 465
Use the following type of encrypted connection: SSL

18. Press OK
19. Press Close

You should now be able to download your email by pressing the Send/Receive button.
