How to manage your domain

If you have a domain registered with us, you can manage it through the domain control panel. Below are a list of the most frequent changes made in the control panel.  Please click on the link below to jump to that section or scroll down.

Logging into the domain control panel:

1. Go to http://dnsadmin.ihostnetworks.com
2. Login with your domain name (without the www) an password



If you are unable to login, please submit a ticket to have your domain password reset.


Updating your contact information:

1. Press the Contact Information tab at the top



2. Press the Edit button next to Registrant and Administrative Contact

 

3. Enter your new contact information
4. Press Save


Changing Name Servers:

1. Press the Domain Settings tab
2. Press the Edit button next to DNS Information



3. Enter your new name server addresses



Note: Make sure your remove the old name servers address before adding the new ones.

4. Press Save


Unlocking the Domain / Authorization Code:

To unlock your domain and obtain the authorization code, you will need to contact our support department at http://www.ihostticket.com.  This feature is not available in this control panel.


Redirecting your domain to another website:

1. Press the Domain Settings tab
2. Press the Edit button next to Edit DNS Information



3. Select "Default" next to DNS Settings



4. Press Save
5. Press the Edit button next to Host Records



6. Remove the IP address under the Address column, and enter the full website address you want the domain forwarded to
7. Select "URL Redirect" under Record Type



8. Press Save


Adding an A Record / CName (For closed hosting accounts):

If you have an active hosting account with us, please contact our support to add your DNS settings to our server.  Otherwise this could shut off access to your website.

1. Press the Domain Settings tab
2. Press the Edit button next to DNS Information



3. Select "Default" next to DNS Settings



4. Press Save
5. Press the Edit button next to Host Records



6. Enter your A Records / Cnames as shown below




FYI: A Records map to IP addresses (e.g. 198.92.147.146); CNames map to domain names (e.g. forum.somesite.com)

Note: Press the Add New button if you need to create more rows.

7. Press Save

 
Adding a MX Record (For closed hosting accounts):

If you have an active hosting account with us, please contact our support to add your MX Records to our server.  Otherwise, this could shut off access to your website and email.

1. Press the Domain Settings tab
2. Press the Edit button next to DNS Information



3. Select "Default" next to DNS Settings



4. Press Save
5. Press the Edit button next to Email Settings



6. Next to the "@" Host Name, Enter your MX Record setting and preference

 

Adding Multiple MX Records: If you need to add multiple MX Records, below your first record, enter "@" for the HostName, then enter the MX Record settings and preference to the right.  There is a maximum of 4 root "@" records.  If your mail server has provided you with more than 4 MX records, you can generally leave out the remaining MX Records - it should not affect your email.



7. Press the Save button
