[Web Studio] Web site not uploading

There are a couple factors that can prevent your website from uploading, or appear as though it did not get uploaded.  Please go through the following steps in correcting the upload problem.

1.  Delete your temporary internet files
2.  Verify an Index page has been selected
3.  Enable "Root Website Directory"
4.  Verify .html file extensionsVerify the folder paths are correct

Delete your temporary internet files

Perhaps the most common problem which makes it appear your website did not get uploaded, is because your browser is storing an old page in the temporary internet files.  For information on how to delete the temporary internet files from your web browser, please click the following link:

Verify an Index page has been selected

If you do not have an index page selected for your website document, WebStudio will not name your main page "index.html".  Because of this, you will either see the default place holder or an old version of your website.  To verify you have an index page selected, please perform the following steps:

1. Open your website in WebStudio
2. Under the page list column to the right, verify you have a house icon, as shown below:

Note: If you do not have this icon, continue through the remaining steps

3. Under the Page List column, right-click your main page (or home page), select Home Page

This should now put a house icon next to the page, as displayed in the picture in Step 2.

Enable "Root Website Directory"

If you do not enable "root website directory" when you are uploading your website, your website data will get uploaded outside of the correct folder.  Because of this, visitors will not be able to see your website or changes you made to your website.  To verify "root website directory" is enabled, please perform the following steps:

1. Open your website in WebStudio
2. From the menu bar, go to Website -> Save Web Site to Internet...
3. When your website is finished building, press the Upload button
4. Verify "Root Website Directory" is enabled, as shown below:

Verify .html file extensions

Depending on what file extension you choose for your website, it may have over another file type.  On our servers, by default, a .html file will always take precedence over a .htm file.  To verify you are build your website with a .html file extension, please perform the following steps:

1. Open your website in WebStudio
2. From the menu bar, go to Page -> Page Properties
3. Press the File Type tab
4. Verify "File Type on the Web" is set to ".html Hypertext", and preview is set to ".htm Hypertext", as shown below:

Verify the folder paths are correct

If you change the name of your website document, the build and upload folders can get out-of-sync.  This is because the Instant Publisher hard codes the website document name into the folder path.  If you change the name of the WebStudio document, it will build from the new location, but try and upload from the old location.  Because of this, it is recommended that you save your website by going to File -> Save Project, instead of going to File -> Save Project As (where you can change the name of your website document).  To verify your website your folder paths are synced up, please perform the following steps:

1. Open your website in WebStudio
2. From the menu bar, go to Website -> Save Web Site to Internet...
3. Make a note to where your website is being built to, as shown below:

4. Press the Upload button
5. Verify the upload folder is the same as your build folder, as shown below:

If your folder paths are the same, and you are still experiencing upload problems, your will need to contact our support department at 1-800-371-4326, so we can determine what the cause of this is.

If you folders are out-of-sync, you will need to perform the following 2 steps below to correct this.
